What Happens During Your PASMA Course?

Each one-day course combines tutor-led theory with hands-on exercises using your chosen tower configuration. Delegates practise the relevant build methods and inspection skills under the instructor’s supervision.

The course includes a multiple-choice theory assessment with an 80% pass mark, alongside a practical assessment. Delegates must successfully complete both to gain the qualification.

Successful delegates receive a PASMA PhotoCard and certificate showing the relevant tower category, with the qualification valid for five years in the UK. Course notes and a PASMA Code of Practice provide reference material to take back to work.

What You’ll Learn on Your Specialist PASMA Course

Each course applies PASMA’s safety principles to your chosen tower configuration, covering preparation, assembly, inspection and safe use.

Training Topic What You’ll Learn
Responsibilities & Guidance Work-at-height responsibilities, relevant legislation and guidance, and the PASMA Code of Practice.
Tower Standards & Instructions The relevance of EN 1004-1 and BS 1139-6, and how to find and follow the manufacturer’s safety information.
Components & Configuration Recognising the components and arrangements used in your selected tower type, including its configuration-specific limitations.
Safe Assembly & Dismantling Using approved build methods that maintain fall protection during assembly and dismantling.
Inspection & Records Carrying out pre-use checks and inspections of completed towers, and completing Tower Inspection Records.
Safe Use & Site Hazards Recognising hazards in the work environment, accessing platforms safely and understanding when the selected tower should not be used.

Practical exercises focus on the tower configuration covered by your course, so delegates can apply the learning to the equipment they will use. Unsure which course your team needs? Tell us about your tower equipment, planned work and existing qualifications.
