What You Need to Know About EN795 Anchor Devices

Personal Fall Protection Systems (PFPS) differ dependent on the system of work being undertaken.

Restraint Systems are used to prevent the user from reaching zones where the risk of a fall from height exists.

Work Positioning Systems use a personal fall protection system as the primary means of support and either a separately connected safety back up system or a collective fall protection system.

Rope Access Systems enable the user to get to and from the place of work in such a way that a free fall is prevented or arrested, by using the working line and a safety line connected separately to anchor points.

Fall Arrest Systems limits the impact force on the body of the user during fall arrest.

Different Systems impose different loadings on the anchor device. The pull testing requirements can also differ.

Generally for restraint and fall arrest purposes the anchor device should be pull tested at least every 12 months.

For rope access, rescue and devices used to raise and lower people. It should be tested at least every 6 months to comply with Regulation 9 of the Lifting Operation and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.
